Royal Worcester - 1936-38
Here we have an elegant green and gold set of Royal Worcester demitasse coffee cups dating from the 1930s.
Retailers would buy sets of cups from porcelain factories and then pair them with silver or silver gilt spoons, and box them up in specially designed cases marked with the retailers name. This set was originally purchased from a jeweller in Glasgow. The spoons in this set were made by Henry James Hulbert.
Coffee was a popular drink after dinner and such sets like this would be used for guests. This set is in such fine condition I’m not sure they were ever used.
Conditon: Excellent with very few signs of wear. Some wear to the exterior of the box.
